LES 100 MILLORS CANÇONS DE LA HISTORIA DEL ROCK

La cançó dels Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" va ser seleccionada com el millor tema mai interpretat en la història del rock, segons un sondeig realitzat a Nova York. El sondeig, que va abastar els 100 millors temes de rock, va ser realitzat pel canal musical de cable VH1 entre 700 persones vinculades a la indústria de la música als E.U.A.

Entre els músics que van votar van figurar Bono, del grup U2, Johnny Cash, Art Garfunkel, Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed i Curtis Mayfield.

Els Beatles van estar representats a la llista pel major nombre de temes d'un mateix intèrpret o grup d'intèrprets amb nou cançons. La primera d'elles, "Hey Jude" va quedar en novè lloc.

A la llista apareixen cinc dels Stones i quatre d'Elvis Presley i Led Zeppelin respectivament.

Bob Dylan va estar representat amb tres, a més de la seva composició "All Along the Watchtower", que els enquestats van preferir en la veu de Jimi Hendrix.

El tema més antic de la llista és "Rock Around the Clock" de Bill Haley i els seus Comets, publicat el 1955, i el més recent va ser "Smells Like Teen Spirit", del grup Nirvana, publicat el 1991.

L'únic tema netament llatí que figura a la llista és "La Bamba", en interpretació de Ritchie Valens, que ocupa el número 98.
